"You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it."  How can we reconcile that statement (from Pirkei Avot) with current societal views of aging as a get-out-of-jail-free card? Does retirement entitle us to say “Enough!  I’ve raised a family and contributed to the economy. I’ve done my bit”? Jews have always turned to rabbis and elders as sources of wisdom. Reb Zalman spoke of spiritual eldering which he described as "a pioneering journey into our unmarked potential."
