How can non-Jewish students benefit from reading Yiddish literature in translation? This presentation draws on Rachel's experience of teaching Yiddish stories at Langara and suggests practical, hands-on strategies for presenting the literature to students and helping them engage.
Rachel Mines teaches in the English Department at Langara College. Her translation of Jonah Rosenfeld's short fiction, originally published in Yiddish in the 1920s, is forthcoming from Syracuse University Press.
